Leh to have \”Philately Exhibition\” from September 1

\"\"More than 20,000 rare stamps from India and abroad will be on display at a Philately Exhibition in Leh district of Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir from September 1.The exhibition will be organised during the Leh Festival at Polo Grounds, Leh, from September 1 for five days, state Chief Post Master General John Samuel said.For collectors, this will be a rare treat to display their stamp collection and to witness them on various themes, he said.Five special covers depicting various aspects of Ladakh will be released during the exhibition, he added.\”A fully computerised post office will also come up in Kargil this year, and another post office will be opened in Zansker soon,\” Samuel said.The department is also planning to install a tourist shop in each post office that will sell stationery, magazines, guide maps and newspapers.Various competitions will also be organised by the Department of Posts during the five day exhibition.
