First Charity labels by India Post

It was issued to all post offices on 26th January 1950 Republic Day. They were intended for sale as charity labels without postal validity. The proceeds to be utilized for various health measures taken by the Government.Unwatermarked gummed paper in three denominations and were printed by Thomas de la Rue & co. all in sheets of 50.Unfortunately and erroneously some quantity were used as pre-payment of postage and even postmarked.\"\"

    Thanks for the story of these 1950 HEALTHY INDIA Charity Stamps. I bought this set for Rs.5.- in 1980 or so & the seller would call them dlaaroo.. health stamps. A few weeks ago I saw this set on offer for Rs.250.- to 500.- on the internet.
