Gandhiji established Satyagrah Ashram on the bank of river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad in 1917. Ashram which is now more commonly known as Sabarmati Ashram. The Ashram was established to carry on the search for truth and for creating a now violent group to secure freedom of the country. The Ashram was Gandhiji\’s home till 1930 when he left for  his historic Dandi March. Since 1930, the Ashram is being used mainly as a centre of education for Harijan girls. There are different buildings like Hriday kunj a guest room called \’Nandini\’ and the small central room where Bapu carried out his important activites. Many of Bapu\’s personals things like a writing desk, the yarn spun by him and some of his letters are on display. There is Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalay in the Ashram which was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963.The cancellation has been introduced at Gandhi Ashram Post Office, Ahmedabad on 30-01-1995.
