UAE to Lead GCC in Japan World Stamp Exhibition

\"\"The UAE will lead the joint GCC participation in Japan World Stamp Exhibition from July 28 to August 2, in Yokohama, under the theme ‘Stamps Link the World.’The GCC pavilion will display unique stamps and postal history of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar at the annual international exhibition which is held in a different country each year, under the patronage of F.I.P. – Federation Internationale de Philatelie and auspices of Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP).“Emirates Post is delighted to lead the joint GCC participation in the world’s most prestigious stamp show,” said Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Post. “The event offers a strategic platform to project the philatelic excellence and cultural uniqueness of all countries. By participating under a common GCC banner, the GCC region can showcase the common traits of the member countries as well as their philatelic collection before an international audience.”“The international stamp exhibition is an event that is visited by thousands of people wherever it is held. Therefore, the GCC countries in general and the UAE in particular can use the event to highlight their unique tourist attractions and cultural richness for Japanese and international visitors,” added Bin Karam.

Besides postal organizations from each GCC countries, various philatelic associations from the region and UAE, including Emirates Philatelic Association, will also participate in the exhibition and display their collections.

‘PHILANIPPON 2011’ is jointly organized by the Japan Post Service Co, Philatelic Federation of Japan and Japan Philatelic Society. Significantly, this year’s event is being held in Yokohama where the first Japanese international postal service was launched. This year also marks the 140th anniversary of the Japanese postal service.
