New Zealand Released Charity Stamp Collection

New Zealand Post has released an annual collection of stamps to benefit Children’s Health\"\" Camps for 82 years, and this year’s designs feature Kiwi, Kakapo, and Takahe. To celebrate the native bird theme, a group of 20 children from the Otaki health camp were taken to meet a Takahe in Zealandia on 6th July 2011.

New Zealand Foundation for Child and Family Health and Development chief executive Fiona Inkpen said the camps supported children aged 5-12 years who were identified as vulnerable. The camps aimed to improve the children’s life skills, education, and confidence to try new things.Head of stamps for New Zealand Post Ivor Masters said the 2011 native bird design was chosen because they and the nation’s children had a shared need to be cared for. Stamps raise 10 cents per stamp, with the total produced each year varying between $20,000 and $50,000.
