New Royal Stamps of Guernsey

\"\"A new set of stamps to celebrate two Royal birthdays are being issued in Guernsey. They mark the Queen\’s 85th and Prince Philip\’s 90th and look back at the life of the Monarch and the Duke from the early years of their marriage to celebrating the Queen\’s 80th Birthday at St Pauls Cathedral in 2006. The earliest image depicts the Royal couple completing their tour of West Riding in Yorkshire with a visit to the city of York in 1949; another shows them near the King George IV Gateway at Windsor Castle in 1959.

Dawn Gallienne, Head of Philatelic at Guernsey Stamps said: \”As with previous royal weddings, we have chosen to celebrate this royal occasion by featuring a set of images which we feel have particularly natural qualities. Reflecting this, we used two colours in the printing process rather than the usual four colour print effect, which gives the stamps a more traditional feel.\”
