LUCKNOW: Hazratganj has turned 200-year old. The citizens\’ initiative, Connect Lucknow, organized Jashan-e-Hazratganj on Saturday to commemorate 200 years of the place. To mark the occasion, chief guest Pradip Kant released a special cover on Hazratganj by postal department. \”It is not Hazratganj, but it\’s Lucknow which is important. We need to preserve its culture and vibrancy,\” said Chander Prakash, president, Connect Lucknow. Connect Lucknow also honoured Nobel laureate Dr RK Pachauri on the occasion. Pachauri who has his roots in the city said, \”it is such a delight to see Hazratganj being celebrated\”. Lucknow is timeless, he said. MV Nair, chairman and managing director, Union Bank of India and Col Kamlesh Chandra, chief postmaster general, UP circle, were the special guests at the event which had several distinguished people from the city. However, the speakers agreed that there is a great need to preserve the culture of Lucknow and it is something which cannot be done without the involvement of youngsters.
On the occasion, a \’mushaira\’ was organised in which eminent shayars from all over the country and also neighbounring country Pakistan participated. Kishwar Nahid, Mahmood Shaam, Fazil Jamili, Ambarin Hasib Ambar, Nida Fazli, Azar Inayti, Munawwar Rana, Farhat Ehsas, Rajesh reddy, Shehnaz Nabi, Deepti Mishra, Faiyaz Farooqui,Meeraj Faizabadi, Tarannum Riyaz, Rais Ansari, Popular Merethi, Bashir Farooqui, Shariq Kaifi, Shoaib Nizam, Tariq Kanwar and Tasnif Haider were the shayars who enthralled audience. In addition, a book authored by shayarKhusbir Singh Shaad , `bikharne se zara kuch pehle\’, was also released.(Source-Times of India Lucknow)
