About 30-40 years ago, Indian Postal Department had established some Philatelic Counters also apart from the Philatelic Bureau. These Philatelic Counters were opened in the Head Post Offices of such small cities where Philately was popular. During release of every new stamp, Postal Department was providing a date changeable cancellation with the letters “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE”. That was the time when even in such small cities, new stamp, FDC and folders were available on the very same day of the issue. One such FDC with the First Day of Issue cancellation of SATNA Philatelic Bureau is exhibited here. Later on such concept of Philatelic Counters abounded.
