Royal Mail Released Stamps on Morris and Company

Royal Mail has released stamps on 5th May 2011 to honor writer and designer William\"\" Morris. Royal Mail has released the set of six stamps to mark the 150th anniversary of Morris\’s design and furniture company which he founded with friends in 1861.

His work appears on two pieces in the set – a \"\"fabric print on one of the 1st Class stamps, and a series of hand-painted glazed tiles designed with William De Morgan on one of the £1.10 stamps.The other designs are by his colleagues including architect Philip Webb and artist John Henry Dearle.Morris was born in Walthamstow in 1834 and lived at his family\’s mansion in what is now Lloyd Park between the years 1848 and 1856.
