Philately Exhibition opens at Patna GPO

\"\"PATNA 22 March: A copy of \’Daak ticket\’,  world\’s first prepaid ticket, started in Patna in 1773, known as \’copper ticket\’ or \’Azimabad ekanni\’ and \’Azimabad athanni\’ is on display at a month-long exhibition that began here on Monday at Patna GPO. Organised by the postal services, visitors\’ entry to the exhibition, between 10 am and 6 pm, is free.
On the occasion of Bihar Diwas, postal stationaries have also been launched to showcase \’glory of Bihar through the window of stamp.\’
At the exhibition, over 1,000 stamps including those on Khuda Bakhsh Library, Patna Medical College, Water temple at Pawapuri, Nalanda College, Biharsharif, Deedarganj Yakshini, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Madhubani paintings, Buddha, Maner Sharif, Rajgir Mahotsav and Sonepur mela have been displayed. Besides, 200 First Day covers, 200 brochures, 150 cancellations, 150 special covers and 60 letters that are more than 100 years old, are also on display.(source-TOI)
