Monaco released 2 new stamps

Principality of Monaco today released two new stamps.

In April 2011, H.R.S. Prince Albert II will travel to Ireland for a state visit 50 years after the princely couple Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, who had Irish origins, were received in Ireland by Irish President Eamon de Valera.

150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF ANTOINE BOURDELLE

Born in Montauban in 1861, Antoine Bourdelle entered the prestigious Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1884. He became Rodin’s assistant and went on to teach many prominent artists such as Giacometti\"\"and Maillol. He was one of the pioneers of 20th century monumental sculpture and gained international success for his work Hercules the Archer. The stamp represents part of his Monument to General Alvear, on exhibition at the Musée Bourdelle in Paris.
