THE NEWLY introduced ‘My Stamp’ concept by India Post, wherein a personalised stamp-sheet with personal photo printed on it can be ordered by buyers is a commendable move and is being appreciated by the general public and philately lovers.
The India Posts Department should provide this service as a regular feature to give a boost to the Indian postal service at a time when courier services and e-communication have taken over correspondence by paper-based mails.
The My Stamp service must be introduced at selected post-offices of the country on a regular basis whereby people interested in personalised stamps can get the same for a minimum print order of say one-lakh at the face value.
It has been suggested that India Post should offer a concession for students and stamp lovers and permit them to order personlised stamp sheets, in whatever quantity they want as has been done at the INDIPEX 2011.
Buyers can get a 12-stamps sheet of Rs 5 denomination for Rs 150 at the INDIPEX 2011, which is a world-level philatelic exhibition being held in India to provide a unique platform for interaction between all the philatelic stake-holders. It is being organised by India Post in association with the Philatelic Congress of India.
