Royal Mail\’s \”Namaste \” to INDIPEX 2011

\"\"Paul Malone(Overseas Manager- Royal Mail stamps and collectibles) informed Phila-Mirror that to commemorate Indipex, Royal Mail is issuing a Special Exhibition Sheet which will include the following:

• 20 x ‘Union Flag’ self adhesive stamps;

• 20 x adjoining labels consisting of appropriate images of old and new Delhi. One of these will feature a reproduction of the Gandhi Centenary stamp issued by the British Post Office on 13th August 1969 – the first stamp from the United Kingdom to commemorate an overseas leader. This stamp was requested by Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy of India and was designed by Biman Mullick, an Indian born graphic designer and illustrator;
• the official Indipex logo as well as
• a background design encapsulating the vibrant colours synonymous with India.

Other images that will be featured on the sheet will be Lotus Temple, Jama Masjid Mosque, India Gate, the Akshardham Temple and the exhibition venue, Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre

The sheet will be available for sale from various stamp dealers at the show but those not attending can order it directly from Royal Mail through their website or by calling +44 131 316 7483.
