Pakistan: A Philatelic Report of 2010

Pakistan Post Office issued 17 commemorative stamps on 10 different occasions. One definitive stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination was also issued in small Quaid-i-Azam Series this year.This year Stamp Society of Pakistan organized two National ExhibitionsJointly sponsored by Dawn Group, Philatelic Federation of Pakistan and Pakistan

\"\"Post Office in June 2010 & November 2010.Mr.Fazli Sattar Khan Additional Director General, Pakistan Post was the Chief Gust on both the occasions. Pakistan Post Office also issued a Commemorative Postage Stamp on this events.This year the famous Siddiqui Stamps catalogue 2011 Edition was launched on Internet and it is available at www.pakistanphilately.com.

  1. 7th National Finance Commission Award -2009 Gwadar

\"\"The 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award has been adopted with the consensus of all four provinces. It is a unique example in the history of the country. The credit must go to the democracy, the magnanimity of the federal government and the tolerance of the provinces. Whereas, the federal government has agreed to allocate additional resources to the provinces from the divisible pool, the provinces have shown flexibility to accommodate each other’s point of view.

To commemorate the occasion the Pakistan Post Office issued a   Postage stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination on 11th JANUARY 2010. First time the stamp depicts the portrait of Banazir Bhutto with a group photo with the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers & Cabinet Members.

2. Aaghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan

Balochistan, the least populated province of Pakistan is rich in minerals and natural resources. The province has an important significance for the country due to its strategic,

\"\" economic and rich natural resource reserves. Balochistan province has a sense of deprivation, both politically and economically. A feeling was prevailing among people of Balochistan that they were deprived of their rights.

Aaghas-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package has been tabled by the Government in the joint session of the parliament on 24.11.2009.This package will certainly pave the way for not only resolving the socio economic and political problems of Balochistan  but it would also open a new era of development.To commemorate the occasion Pakistan Post Office issued a postage stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination on 11th January 2010.

3. Golden Jubilee “Meet Pakistan Navy Rifle Association” (PNRA)

\"\"Pakistan Navy, since the inception is performing the sacred duty of defending the motherland in a befitting manner. It is only possible through the extensive training that Pakistan Navy imparts to keep its personnel abreast with the innovations in warfare technology. In this back ground the foundation of the Pakistan Navy Rifle Association was laid in 1952. Pakistan Navy Rifle Association celebrates its Golden Jubilee on 13th February 2010. To commemorate the occasion Pakistan Post Office issued a postage stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination on 13th February, 2010.

4. Conferment of Hilal-i-Eissar on Different Cities

Military operation against the terrorists in Malakand division code named “rahey Rast”\"\"resulted in displacement of hundred of thousands of residents to adjacent safer areas in the cities of Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swabi. This influx of human population termed as internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taxed with food, shelter and other basic civic amenities of these host towns. Living up to their Rich and old traditions of hospitality, the people of Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swabi welcomed the displaced brethren with open arms.

To acknowledge the supreme act of making willing sacrifices by the residents of Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swabi in accommodating and sustaining IDPs of Malakand Division, the President of Pakistan awarded “Hilal-i-Eissar” to the valiant residents of the above named towns/cities.On the occasion of conferment of Hilal-i-Eissar ,Pakistan Post Office issued a set of five stamps of Rs.5/- denomination each on 22nd February 2010.The stamps depicts War memorial of Nowshera, Islamia College Peshawar, Swabi Judicial Complex, Takht-i-Bahi Mardan and Sugar Mills at Charsadda with a beautiful flag on all stamps.

5. 150th Anniversary of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) 1860-2010

\"\"Established in 1860, Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) is one of the oldest investment chambers in the region. To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of  Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) Pakistan Post Office issued a   stamp  of Rs.8/- denomination  on 7th April 2010.The stamp depictsThe building of the chamber.

6. First Youth Olympic Games, Singapore 2010.

The first Youth Olympic Games is a new venture of IOC initiated to involve youth of the\"\"world to compete at Olympic level. Singapore hosts these games from 14th to 26th August 2010. Around 3600 Athletes participated in 26 sports comprising 201 events.To commemorate the occasion Pakistan Post Office issued a postage stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination on 14th August, 2010.The stamp shows Games emblem, Olympic symbol and players playing games.

7. 150th Founder’s Day Celebration of Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree.

\"\"Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree is the oldest, elite institution of Pakistan with glorious traditions in the field of academics & extra curricular activities. It was established in 1860 and become Lawrence College in 1927.On the eve of 150th Anniversary of the Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree Pakistan Post Office issued a set of 4 Commemorative stamps of Rs. 8/- denomination each on, 7th October 2010.The stamps depict different views of the college with a beautiful Gutter in the centre of the stamps sheet showing the monogram  of the college.

8. National Philatelic Exhibition, Pakistan 2010(Child Art Series)

Child art is the drawing, paintings and other artistic works created by the children’s. The National Philatelic Exhibition coupled with Youth Painting Competition was held at Karachi in 2010 wherein  child art competition was held. The stamps Society of Pakistan is Organizing .these Exhibitions since 2008. The Jury after the competitions found that in the painting, cultural influence was very important.\"\"

On the occasion of June 2010 Exhibition Mr. Fazli Sattar Khan Additional Director General, Pakistan Post witnessed children competition. At this occasion he acknowledged the efforts of Stamp Society of Pakistan and the Federation. Due to his keen interest Pakistan Post Office issued a commemorative stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination on November 5, 2010.The stamps depicts the painting of   Ilma Tariq a student of Karachi school. The sheet also consists of 8 labels of the Exhibition logo. The president Faisalabad Philatelic Association congratulates Mr. Iqbal Nanjee (Stamp Society) to hold such a great philatelic shows.

9. Silver Jubilee of International Islamic University Islamabad.

\"\"The International Islamic University was established in 1980.At present the University has 9 faculties having more then 20,000 students.On the occasion of silver jubilee of International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan Post issued a Commemorative stamp of Rs. 8/- denomination   on, 15th December, 2010. The stamps depicts view of the University building and insignia of the University.

10. Golden Jubilee of Capital City- Islamabad (1960-2010)

The decision to build Islamabad as capital was taken in 1958, when Ayub Khan was the\"\"President. The CDA was established on 27th June, 1960 for carrying out the purpose of planning and development of Federal Capital Islamabad.  Construction work was started in 1961 and the first residents moved in 1963.On the occasion of Golden jubilee of Capital City, Islamabad Pakistan Post issued a Commemorative stamp of Rs. 5/- denomination   on, 31st December, 2010. The stamps depict view of Islamabad City.

  3. Nice site – I also share my collection of stamps from around the world that I collected years ago at: My Philatelic World, where one may find very old stamps even dating as early 1910.
