India Post released commemorative stamp on Doot

India Post today released  first stamp of 2011 on Gujrati Magazine Doot in a function at\"\" Ahmedabad. The \”DOOT\” Centenary Postage Stamp was released by Smt. Humera Ahmed, Chief Post Master General of Gujarat, at the Loyola Golden Jubilee Auditorium.Doot— a Gujarati Catholic monthly periodical that completed a century of uninterrupted publishing — caters to the Catholic community across the state.


\"\"It also has readers in the US, Canada, UK and Africa.
The magazine which initially cost just two paisa now costs Rs100 and has gone from a seven pages to 48. It has around 5,000 subscribers.

The first edition of Doot was published in January 1911 by the Examiner Press, Mumbai. Later after 1926 onwards it was printed at Anand press in Anand by Gujarati Sahitya Prakash.\”Doot incorporates the entire Indian society and has been publishing articles dealing with spread of education, development of family and society at large.
