As an innovative idea in 1993 India post started a new range of delightful cards for different usage like Seasosns greeting,Diwali,Christmas,Pongal,Dushera,Friendship,Best of luck,Birthday and Thankyou. These cards come ready with prepaid postage envelopes, thereby eliminating the need to affix stamps:an unique concept for the first time in India.Much more facinating thing was the postage stamps are an exact replica of the cards with word INDIA and the denomination with simulated perforations.About 250 different varieties were issued till 2003 then it was stooped. Here are few attractive presentations on CHRISTMAS.
.Jesus of Nazareth commonly known as Jesus Christ or simply Jesus, is
the central figure of Christianity. Christians view him as the Son of
God,who provided salvation by dying for their sins, then rising from
the dead. The angel Gabriel visited Mary to tell her that she was
chosen to bear the Son of God. Jesus was born as Joseph and Mary, who
were visiting Bethlehem. Jesus was born in a manger in place of a crib
because of a shortage of accommodation.
An angel announced Jesus\’ birth to shepherds who left their flocks to
see the newborn child and who told everyone what they had witnessed
throughout the area. The \”Wise Men\” or \”Magi\” brought gifts to the
young Jesus after following a star which they believe was a sign that
the King of the Jews had been born.
Christmas or Christmas Day is a holiday observed generally on December
25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus.Christmas is central to the
Christmas and holiday season, and in Christianity marks the beginning
of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts for twelve
days.Christmas is also celebrated by an increasing number of
non-Christians worldwide. Popular modern customs of the holiday
include gift-giving, music, an exchange of greeting cards, church
celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations;
including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity
scenes, and holly.
Santa Claus, is a legendary figure who, in many Western cultures, is
said to bring gifts to the homes of the good children during the late
evening and overnight hours of Christmas Eve, December 24.Santa Claus
is generally depicted as a plump, jolly, white-bearded man wearing a
red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and
black leather belt and boots (images of him rarely have a beard with
no moustache) and he usually travels with eight or nine reindeer. This
image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th
century due to the significant influence of caricaturist and political
cartoonist Thomas Nast.
