Maxim Card is now a days an interesting and attractive Philatelic item. Since last 15 / 20 years many Maxim Cards have been issued by the Postal Department, Philatelic Societies and individuals. In my collection of Rotary International theme, I have a very old Maxim Card of the year 1948. International Convention of Rotary is organized every year in different countries. 39th Rotary International Convention was organized from 16th May to 20 May 1948 at Rio De Janeiro (English meaning \”River of January\”), a Brazilian city. Brazil had issued two stamps to commemorate this Convention. Post & Telegraph Department of Brazil had prepared this Maxim Card. Both the stamps are affixed on this and cancelled with the first day cancellation.Rotary International is an oldest service Club active all around the world. Paul P. Harris founded first Rotary Club at Chicago in the year 1905. It is an organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standerds in all vocations and help build goodwill and world peace. There are about 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas in the world.

Rio de Janeiro is the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil and twenty sixth largest city in the world. It was the capital of Brazil for nearly two centuries, from 1763 to 1815 during the Portuguese colonial era, 1815 to 1821 as the capital of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves, and from 1822 to 1960 as an independent nation. Rio de Janeiro is the most visited city of the tourists and known for its natural settings, carnival celebrations, samba, Bossa Nova, balneario beaches etc.
